Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center offers training classes and resources to address a variety of needs for companion animals. Our training philosophy is based on the behavioral science concepts of positive reinforcement. Training your pet using these methods will not only help them learn new behaviors more quickly, it will also strengthen the bond you share.
Training is offered virtually and in person. Anyone is welcome to join our virtual classes, whether you’re a member of our local community or joining us from afar!

GROUP CLASSES
ADOLESCENT PUPPY PLAYGROUP
Geared towards teenaged pups practicing their dog-dog social skills in a safe and supervised setting, we offer Adolescent Playgroup!
Trainers narrate play and combine pups who are compatible playmates, monitoring carefully to make sure puppies are learning and having good experiences.
PUPPY K
Puppy Kindergarten is designed to meet the training and socialization needs of pups that are under 5 months old. Owners and their pups learn to adapt to new people, dogs, environments, and experiences.
LEVEL 1: GROUP DOG TRAINING
This is an introductory-level course that addresses training areas of immediate concern to dog owners.
LEVEL 2: GROUP DOG TRAINING
You’ll continue developing the skills you learned in Level 1 and begin introducing training exercises that are more challenging and useful in the real world
IN-HOME PRIVATE TRAINING
In-Home private training sessions allow for the trainer to come to you and create a personalized training plan for you and your dog. Sessions are flexible and designed to work with your busy schedule. In-home training is a great option for:
- Reactive Dogs
- In-home aggression with other animals in the household
- Fearful Dogs
- Young puppies
- Behavioral issues in the home
- Dogs who need more intensive training
- Advanced training

VIRTUAL TRAINING
Can’t attend a class in person? Try GoodPup! Train at home with virtual 1-on-1 training via video chat, which allows complete flexibility around your busy schedules. GoodPup provides private training with certified trainers who teach cues and advanced behavior on topics like crate training, barking, begging and jumping.
