We offer low-cost spay and neuter services at the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center in Riverside, CA.  Appointments are necessary and can only be made online. We do not schedule appointments over the phone.

 Public spay/neuter is only performed on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Spay/Neuter Pricing*

Because we have not had the opportunity to examine your pet before surgery, there may be unforeseen health concerns that require additional care beyond a standard spay/neuter. Factors such as age, weight, and breed can make the procedure more complex, sometimes requiring extra treatments to ensure your pet’s safety. If any concerns arise, our team will discuss the next steps with you *Includes a 24-hour pain injection.  Additional pain medication can be purchased for an additional charge: pricing is subject to change without notice.

The prices below are for a standard spay or neuter. Because we do not examine your pet before the day of surgery, our veterinarian sometimes identifies a medical need during the procedure.

If medically necessary treatment is required for your pet’s safety or to complete the surgery, up to $50 will be added to the listed surgery price. This includes treatment for issues such as an umbilical hernia, nausea, low heart rate, or additional surgical time.

Optional services, including flea, tick, or deworming treatments, are not included in this $50 amount. We will contact you for approval before providing optional services.

Community Cat Surgery

Community cat surgeries are offered Monday - Friday, as well as on our designated Community Cat Day, held on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

No appointment is needed on these designated days.

We accept:

• Up to 10 community cats Monday - Friday
• Up to 40 community cats on our designated Community Cat Day, the fourth Tuesday of each month

Surgical admission begins at 6:30 a.m. and ends when we reach our maximum number of patients for the day. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Community Cat Program fee is a flat $65 per cat.

Community Cat Requirements

• Community cats and kittens MUST arrive in a humane trap that is covered and labeled with the cat’s name and the trapper’s name.
• One cat per trap.
• No carriers, boxes, or crates will be accepted.
• All community cats will be ear-tipped.
• Cats must arrive already secured in a humane trap. For the safety of the cats, transferring cats into traps on our property is not permitted.

Trap Rentals

Traps are available for rent for $5 per day or $20 per week, with a $75 deposit. The deposit is refunded when the trap is returned.

Trap rentals must be arranged in advance. Traps are not available for rental on the day of surgery.

Pets not undergoing surgery can receive vaccines, and other services Monday - Friday from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm ($10 office visit fee, per animal applies to those with an appointment)  You may walk in or schedule an appointment. 

Walk-ins will incur a $25 per animal walk-in fee and will be seen after our appointment-based clients.

Vaccine Requirements for Surgery

For the health and safety of the animals in our clinic, surgical patients must be current on the following vaccines:

Dogs: Rabies and DH2PPV
Cats: Rabies and FVRCP

California state law requires dogs over 4 months of age to have a current rabies vaccination. Please upload proof of vaccination when scheduling your appointment or bring a current rabies certificate with you on the day of surgery.

If your pet is not current on the required vaccines, or if proof of vaccination is not provided, the required vaccine(s) will be given at the time of surgery for an additional fee when medically appropriate.

These requirements help reduce the risk of preventable disease exposure in a high-volume clinic setting and help protect the animals, clients, and staff in our care.
